[Sexy Spotlight] What is a Boudoir Party?
Ladies, we all know how mysterious our lovely Jenny Taylor can be. Like me, you may have heard she sometimes holds what’s called a "Boudoir party", but you’re not quite sure what that means.....
Well I'll let you in on a BIG secret.... I’d first learned of Jenny’s boudoir parties on Facebook months ago before the new studio had even opened. Ooh! Sounds like fun! I thought. But what is it? What do you do? The description she had given on Facebook was, “It’s like a Tupperware party,” but I’d never been to one of those either, so I was still pretty clueless for a good long while.
Luckily, being the Boudoir Bloggin’ Babe, Jenny invited me to observe the first-ever boudoir party held at the new studio (they used to be held at clients’ houses) so I could help give you the scoop.
Several days prior to the event, Jenny asked me to help her think up appropriate game ideas for the party. I got this burst of momentum and churned out a gameboard for Boudoir Party Jeopardy, and immediately sent it to Jenny, who loved it!
Together, we spent an afternoon coming up with trivia about the company (since the cash prizes on the board were for real, and our guests would be able to use them toward future shoots — yes, that means you!), and in the end there were twenty-four “answer-and-question” sets. I devised cards for the game and got everything printed and ready to go for the party.
Shortly after I arrived at the studio, Jenny gave me my official black blinged-out Jenny Taylor Boudoirs T-shirt (which of course you could always purchase for yourself) — yea! I was finally ready to be “seen” on-site.
The studio, ready to receive its guests, looked even more awesome than I remembered it. Bold, rich colors adorned the walls of every space, with gorgeous metal prints of former “boudoir angels” (that is, previous clients who have posed for Jenny), chandeliers dangling in each room . . . and even the dress form in Jenny’s cozy office had changed outfits since the last I’d seen it. Apparently, Jenny had also recently installed a stereo system throughout the studio that is remotely controlled by her iPhone(!), which played current hits to help create a chill party atmosphere. I was greeted by the multi-talented Taylor, Jenny’s faithful assistant, marketer, and makeup artist (phew!). The guests had provided a ton of tempting refreshments, which sat displayed on a desk on the way to the sitting room where most of the party would take place.
Jenny made her entrance, introduced herself, and explained her services so the guests could familiarize themselves. If you haven’t yet met her in person, Jenny has this warm and friendly way about her that makes her super-approachable like you’ve known her since kindergarten — like a schoolmate that’s super-generous, that is! She revealed that there were over $1000 in prizes to be given away that night. . . .
By the time Boudoir Party Jeopardy was underway, all the guests had visibly relaxed and settled in as though they were just hanging out together at someone’s house. It was so exciting to see the finished product in action and see our guests toil, collaborate, and even blindly guess to win over $100 each! It was a little bumpy at first, since it was everybody’s first time, but we got the hang of it in no time. Our “answers and questions” were a bit tricky, but with a bit of effort, the ladies still managed to do pretty well!
After Jeopardy, Jenny showed everyone the way to the salon, where Taylor would give complimentary mini-makeovers as Jenny opened her office to anyone with specific questions for her. I was eager to see the ladies after their “glamified” makeup jobs, but it was time for me to skedaddle! I did catch a glimpse of the lucky first guest whose stunning blue eyes were made to pop with swipes of glistening gold eyeshadow and dramatic mascara. (I told her she should take advantage of her new look by going out — it was Friday night, after all.)
I left the party that evening feeling refreshed and happy for those girls. The opportunity to do a boudoir session is unlike any other experience we everyday folk get to do on a daily basis — and those lucky ducks had the chance to score one with heavy discounts they won at the party!
From what I witnessed that evening, hosting your own boudoir party seems like a super easy and fun way to find out what Jenny Taylor Boudoirs is all about, score yourself some boudoir goodies, and book yourself a session of unmatched fabulous . . . though I’d get on it quick! Demand is high, but it’s totally worth the wait.
