{Sexy Spotlights} .....What to Wear to Your Boudoir Shoot #2

Pamela the Boudoir Bloggin’ Babe back with a new Sexy Spotlight on what to prepare for your shoot!

Now that you’ve settled on a hot outfit (or sets of ’em) for your shoot, it’s time to close the deal with the smaller details: your accessories! I’ve put together a little guide for you to consider as you make your selections.

Be complementary.

This may be stating the obvious, but make sure your accessories complete your selected outfits appropriately. This isn’t just a rule for color, but also for “feel.” If your lingerie has a vintage look, you may want to consider pearls or a more old-fashioned style of jewelry to complete the ensemble. Also consider that if your lingerie has a lot going on in it, like a bolder print or pattern, you may want to stick to subtler jewelry, or less of it. But, a simpler set of lingerie can be further enhanced by more accessories, much like the classic LBD. On that note, it’s time to explore what will add some extra drama to your photos. For your shoot, you’ll be asked to bring a precise set of accessories for any outfit you may wear, so be sure to plan this out!

Be bold.

Accessories are accents to your entire look, so don’t be afraid to experiment with the bold and exaggerated. Costume jewelry, like oversized cocktail rings and bracelets or chunky necklaces, is great for making a statement, and can occasionally even be the focal point of a boudoir photograph. Don’t hesitate to go with the fun and unique — it’s your shoot!

For a vibrant pop of color, consider finding a fake blossom or bow in a bright shade (like red, white, or hot pink) to affix to your hair, especially if you’re primarily wearing black. Make sure the flower is large enough so that how it is attached to your hair doesn’t show, or disturb your hairstyle too much, so try before you buy.

Long, dangly earrings stand out in a backdrop of long luscious locks (I would know, with hair nearly all the way down my back!), and gemstones will catch the light beautifully. Light is a crucial element to your photography, so you’ll only do yourself a favor if you choose accents that will work with it. Pearls are also especially photogenic.

Don’t forget what a fierce pair of stilettos can do for you! Even if you’re just posing on a bed in them, they’ll automatically amp up your sex appeal tenfold. High-heeled boots can add quite a bit of oomph to the look, as well. Pay special attention that the soles of your shoes look clean and not scuffed up, as certain shots will most likely display them. And if you go with a peeptoe, don’t forget to get a pedi before your shoot!

{Review} Gurnee Boudoir Photography

Boudoir Photography Gurnee

{Quote}.......I really can't explain how awesome Jenny Taylor and Nikki the Hair and makeup artist are. When dealing with ladies there is usually a lot of cattiness between one and other, I feared that I would walk into a studio and have stuck up girls working on me, but it was exactly the opposite, both Jenny and Nikki were really laid back, never making me feel out of place...from the moment that I booked with my boudoir photos with Jenny, I have felt completely comfortable and knew that her company was the company for me. She is very personable, so you do not feel like you are just another client, she makes the point of calling you, to go over things in more clearly to make sure that you are on the right track for your shoot, to insure that your photos turn out great. Also she is very quick to get back to you...I found this real important because when I was out shopping for my outfits I would have a question about something, and she would get back to me while I was at the mall!!!

Once I arrived at Jenny's studio I was greeted by Nikki, the hair and makeup artist. I felt completely comfortable with her. I normally do not wear a lot of make up, but she insured me that for the photos you need to over do it, in order for it to show up....I was a little nervous about my make up at first , but after I saw my photos she was right :) Nikki knows exactly what she is doing, she's an amazing hair and make up artist.. She not only made me look amazing, but she also made me feel comfortable. I do know about anyone else, but I usually do not walk around in lingerie and get my photos taken, so even though I was excited to do the shoot, I was also very nervous and but Nikki helped keep my nerves away while I was getting pampered.

Then it came time for my photos, this was the first time that I met Jenny in person, but it did not feel like it was the first time meeting her, she felt like she was an old friend, she has an awesome way of getting you to feel like you are right at home with a childhood friend. Never once did I feel stupid when I was getting my photos taken, Jenny is constantly complementing you, which helps make you feel more comfortable, allowing your photos to show the real you, not the stiff you :)

Her work is absolutely amazing!!!! If she was not already booked on my wedding day I would definitely be switching my photographer, Im even considering trying to find a way to buy out the other bride that has her on my date haha :)...

The way she decorated the studio is awesome...The whole studio is just classy/ sexy...I was nervous getting my photos back because I have had professional photos taken before and I never like the way that they turn out...But for the first time I can say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my professional photos that Jenny took of me....I love them so much that I am trying to figure out another reason to have her take my photos!!!

I truly believe that if I would have gone to another boudoir photography that I would not of been as happy. Jenny Taylor is worth every single penny....Your boudoir photos will come out looking classy, elegant, and sexy ...Something that you will be proud of showing off...My only problem now is deciding which photos I want to use since she took so many good ones and waiting until September to show my fiancé !!!

DO YOURSELF AND YOUR FIANCE A FAVOR...BOOK WITH JENNY TAYLOR....and splurge on your self and get NIKKI to make you look beautiful You will not be disappointed when you book with Jenny Taylor

{Sexy SpotLights}.... What to Wear to your Boudoir Shoot, part 1

{Sexy Spotlights} .... What to Wear to your Boudoir Shoot, part 1

Your Bloggin’ Boudoir Babe Pamela is back with your weekly Sexy Spotlights. This week’s exploration is near and dear to my heart: lingerie!

As soon as you’ve booked your shoot with Jenny Taylor, it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to wear. Unlike a fleeting event such as a party or networking lunch, what you decide to put on for this experience is going to be captured in print, so you’ll want to make some fantastic choices you know will pass the test of time. Turns out, this can be pretty tricky.

A boudoir shoot doesn’t necessarily have to feature a lady in her underwear, but if you’d like to go that route (I certainly don’t blame you!), this Sexy Spotlights is for you. For today, I’ll zero in on the clothes, and next week we’ll address the other fun part: accessories!

Jenny has worked with hundreds of ladies of various shapes and sizes, and she’s helped me put together a little guide to help you make choices you will love forever.

The first rule of thumb: Sometimes what you don’t show can be sexier than what you do. Leave a little to the imagination; the “power of suggestion” in your photos, when used properly, can be really effective to bring out the best of you and your body.

The outfit

Unless you love your midsection, Jenny recommends veering away from matching bra-and-panty sets and instead opting for a one-piece outfit like a corset, slip, babydoll, or teddy. A no-fail combination: corsets with plenty of support that extend to your hips with garter straps.

Those fun “apron” teddies we all love at Victoria’s Secret, although sexy, don’t photograph as well as one would like — and what’s important is showcasing our model in question: you!
Garters will provide a flattering vertical line down the tops of your legs and are a beautiful way to “decorate” your gams. For an additional dose of drama, exaggerated detailing in your hosiery will really pop: large fishnet holes, fabulous lace. Regardless of size, you’ll want your stockings on the larger side (size XL) and without elastic to avoid cinching and make fastening the garter easier.

Another “false friend”: stockings with the line down the back. That line can be hot or cold in a photoshoot because sometimes it snakes around the side of the leg and doesn’t cooperate. Sigh.

Those of you who wish to channel her inner Lady Gaga, be warned . . . novelty outfits (e.g., angels, cowgirls, bunnies, French maids, Santa babies) are discouraged. Because you are most likely shooting to create a gift album or book that should be timeless, making classic (yet contemporary) choices will better ensure that you’ll be happy with your prints in the long run. If you’ve opted for an unlimited set of outfit changes, time will only permit you at most four outfits in one hour — so ask yourself, do you really want your variety of images to include only one or two of you . . . dressed as a nurse? ;)

As far as the obligatory undergarments go (we do not do nude photography, FYI), a sexy boyshort or sheer bikini panties will do. I remember being horrified at the prospect of wearing a thong to my own shoot, and with good reason . . . they don’t photograph so well.

Consider: the looser your stockings or bras are, the less likely they will be to grip your skin in a reddening (or maddening!) way. Try on your outfits before you come in and practice changing in and out of them — help is available, but since you want your shoot to “flow,” you can help ease the process this way.

Best Colors.

Jenny’s favorite colors that flatter every skintone are black, red, bright blue, and bright purple. If you’re going with more than one outfit, it’s a great idea to bring different outfits of varying color groups simply for a more interesting spread.

To-be brides, unless you’ve got a specific piece of bridal lingerie that is specific to your wedding, Jenny does not recommend white or ivory to your shoot. (I’ve seen the set, and with the bedcovers being white you can understand why.)

Color choices aren’t exclusive just to your clothing and accessories, but also extend to stuff like textures and even your skin! Different textures reflect light in certain ways, so don’t pick out anything too flashy. Lace is great, sequins in moderation, but try to avoid too many beads

The night before, exfoliate (unless you’re sensitive) and moisturize so your skin appears smooth and enhances your best “come hither” smolder. If you decide to spray tan for your session, I wouldn’t save it for the day of (for fear of staining or appearing too “orange”) but rather in advance so you look bronzed and not like a pumpkin.

Your nails should also be camera-ready, so try French tips or manicuring them in a solid pop of red or pink. Details make all the difference!

I’m saving the hot topic of accessories for next week, but they of course will need to properly complement your outfits, so make choices accordingly!

Where to Shop.

Naturally, trying on pieces before you purchase guarantees your choices will fit you right. But if you’re like me and addicted to lingerie, you know your size and can afford to poke around on the Web. Browse websites like Victoria’s SecretFrederick’s of Hollywood, or Lingerie Diva for a variety of options. If your interests lie in luxury lines, take a peek at Agent Provocateur, or Lingerie at Nancy MeyerLover’s Lane offers a decent selection of hosiery to consider.

Your boudoir photoshoot is an investment well worth the advance preparation. Jenny and her staff will certainly meet you in the middle, and with their guidance, you’ll be well on your way to jaw-dropping glamour that delivers from the moment you walk in.

{Pretty Posts} ....How to Prepare for your Boudoir Experience

Quoted by one of our BombShell Clients to help prepare our future clients for their Boudoir Experience!

{Quote}  What makes a woman feel sexy? I found myself pondering this as I prepared for my first boudoir session with Jenny Taylor and her amazing team at Jenny Taylor Photography. The key to a successful photo shoot is to be prepared. I knew I would have to release my inner bombshell, bring the va-va-voom, and really strut my stuff.

Now, I’m no supermodel. I’ve never posed for pictures before other than my wedding photos and my senior class picture. One of my main concerns was how my body would look in the pictures. Would I look naturally sexy and effortless like the models in the Victoria’s Secret catalog? What about my arms? How do I emphasize the parts of my body I like while hiding the parts I don’t like?

In the “Goodies” email Jenny sent before my session she gave me some really good pointers. She gave recommendations regarding what to wear and what kind of accessories to bring. Jenny also suggested I practice my sexy face and look for some poses I like. It sounds silly but it works! It also got me thinking about what makes me feel sexy.

For me, being sexy is a state of mind. Being sexy is something that starts on the inside and radiates through your smile. If I don’t feel sexy, I don’t look sexy. So I started practicing. I did a bunch of practice poses in my bathroom mirror and trolled the Internet for examples of the look I wanted for my boudoir session. I also made a list of what makes me feel super sexy. I love high heels. Red lipstick is a must. I made a killer playlist on my iPhone and played it on my way to the session. I channeled my inner diva.

When I arrived on set I was mentally prepared. I know that no matter what my husband will love these photos and find them incredibly sexy because he finds me sexy. He adores my curves, even the ones I wish I didn’t have. Meeting Jenny made me even more at ease. I immediately felt like she was one of my BFFs. We were giggling and having a great time before too long.

I changed into my first outfit and just went out there and worked it! I relaxed and followed Jenny’s directions. I laughed, I smiled, I acted shy, I gave my seduction face. Jenny kept telling me that my poses were great and made her job so easy. WOW! What a great compliment! So, how did I pose so naturally? Here’s a few tips from my experience that I hope will help some of you secret bombshells out there when it comes time for your boudoir session with Jenny.

  • 1.     I pretended it was just my husband and I there. As much as I loved Jenny the minute I met her I knew I couldn’t give my best sexy to her…I had to give it to my husband!
  • 2.     I relaxed. I didn’t stand stiff like a mannequin. The best pictures I’ve ever seen are candid shots where the body’s natural movement is captured. I’d tilt my head slightly, slowly open my mouth to a sexy pout, or look away from the camera like I had a sexy secret I was keeping. I also batted my lashes like any good diva would!
  • 3.     I picked outfits that I felt comfortable wearing. I know what colors I like and what looks best with my skin tone. I chose accessories and props that reflected my personal style.
  • 4.     I had a mini-fashion show a few days before my boudoir session. I tried on all my outfits from head to toe including accessories. I made sure I had all my stockings, removed all noticeable tags, and had any needed undergarments.

The biggest and most important tip I can give you is to be yourself and trust Jenny. Every woman is sexy in her own unique way. Showcase what your guy loves about you. Pretend he’s telling you how great you look in your outfit. Think about when you’ve felt sexiest and try to replicate that moment.

Now book your boudoir session, let your sexiness shine, and say hello to the bombshell inside you!

{Sexy Spotlight} .....Introduction to the Boudoir Bloggin Babe

  {Sexy Spotlights}

by:
Pamela The Boudoir Bloggin Babe
{Quote}....If you are mystified by Ms. Jenny Taylor or nervous about working with her, I’d like to personally describe my experience interviewing with her — let me assure you, she’s every bit as lovely as her photography.

First off, my name is Pamela, I’ve been invited to the team as a blogger, and this is how I got here. . . .

I found out about Jenny Taylor after I’d had my first boudoir photoshoot done elsewhere and became obsessed with the whole boudoir photography experience. It was so unique and made me feel like a supermodel! After my shoot I couldn’t stop thinking about it and wondered if there were other photographers in the Chicago area who specialized in boudoir, because even though I’d loved it, that particular studio just wasn’t the best fit. Wouldn’t it be awesome, I thought, to find an even better boudoir studio? And work for them? That way I could learn more about it behind the scenes.

Through Google I found Jenny Taylor Boudoirs. I was quickly transfixed (visit the site if you want to know why!), and after what seemed like miles of raving reviews and testimonials.   I knew I had to meet this Jenny person. If word of mouth was good for anything, I just knew Jenny Taylor was a woman to know, and I didn’t even know what she looked like. I had to get in touch.

A day after I e-mailed her, I got a phonecall from Jenny herself! Ah-mazing. One of the first things she said to me was, “So what can I do to help you?” I was floored; she had no idea who I was, nor was I even really a prospective client, and she was this willing to reach out to me. It was so refreshing to talk to someone so genuinely caring. Plus, she was just about to open her new studio in downtown Naperville and would soon be hiring. Sweet!

The phonecall lasted about half an hour, and at the end she told me to give her another call in about a month — which of course I did (she remembered me!), and we set up an interview date for the 9th of February, right around the opening of her new studio.

“We have an event coming up on the eighth,” she offered — it was a Ladies’ Night at the Hotel Victor in the city, and I definitely had to check it out even though it was the day before my interview. It would be a great chance to meet Jenny in person.

My friend and I showed up at the Hotel Victor, slipped in next to a bunch of elegantly-dressed fashion models in silky, long gowns, and squeezed past the oodles of other guests that were stopped there watching the fabulous fashion show going on.

Not too far in, we came across a table advertising Jenny Taylor Boudoirs. I introduced myself to the girls working the booth, Whitney and Megan (who is one of Jenny’s makeup artists) — and as it turned out, I had just missed Jenny herself. We must have passed each other unknowingly by the fashion queue! Bummer.

The next morning I was just buzzing with nervous excitement for the interview. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, I got this huge load of butterflies. I knew it was silly, but you know how it is.

Jenny received me almost like I was an old friend, no formal handshakes, apologies for the “mess” (which was virtually nonexistent for a brand-new property she had just moved into), inviting me to take a seat on the couch and make myself comfortable.

Wow, and the space was so clean. Everything was set up just so with bold, beautiful colors and décor, and there was plenty of room to move around and check everything out. The office was complete with a dress form wearing some of the most current collection at Victoria’s Secret.

I don’t even remember what the first question Jenny asked me was. The whole interview was practically like our first phonecall, breezing by like two friends hanging out. The rapport was very mutually informative; I found out how Jenny had gotten started in the whole photography biz and what she looks forward to when she goes to work in the morning. I think we just meshed really well because we were both feeding off each other’s enthusiasm for her vision.

You know, one of my favorite parts of boudoir photography is the feeling of empowerment you get from the experience. It’s all about you and how fantastic YOU are, and when you see yourself for the first time you’re just floored by what you see. Jenny told me that one of her favorite parts of the day is when a girl leaves her studio feeling like she can take on the world.

I told Jenny she must absorb a whole lot of empowerment from all the girls she sees, because she is a fireball! It’s absolutely amazing to see the fruit of all her efforts and how she still manages to take the time to make everyone she meets feel so familiar and comfortable around her.

So when she got the idea for me to share my interview experience with all of you, I jumped right on it. Jenny can be a bit mysterious, but I’m here to help you get a feel for what the Jenny Taylor Boudoir experience is all about. With the opening of the new studio and more exciting events coming up, I invite you to stay tuned and see what Jenny’s got up her sleeve. . .

{Review|} Orland Park Boudoir Photography

     Boudoir Photography Orland Park

I was a little nervous going into the shoot, but my nerves were settled a bit when Jenny opened the door and gave me a hug.  Walking through the new studio to Jenny’s office, I knew the pictures would be very stylish with all the different set ups.  They also have upbeat music playing the entire time, which helps set the mood.  I have never done any modeling and before the picture taking began, she showed me so many different poses.  After the first few pictures, I had nothing to be nervous about and felt at ease with Jenny as she guided me through the shoot.  She definitely made me feel sexy, beautiful, and confident.

For anyone looking to do a boudoir photo shoot, I would recommend Jenny and her staff.  Jenny is a wonderful photographer who definitely goes above and beyond for her clients.  She is one of the sweetest personalities and had no problem putting a smile on my face. I did not do a ‘full session’ with hair and makeup, but seeing pictures from other clients, I know the rest of the staff does a fantastic job also.  I will without a doubt be back for another Jenny Taylor experience! What else could a girl wish for?
